Sadly, the news came through, Covid-19 had put pay to all unnecessary travel and as Spain had closed its borders to all but Spanish people, the journey had to go.
I had been so looking forward to it too. I had hoped to be able to go back and look again, at my leisure, at the art work on display at the Manrique Centre.
I looked at my photos on Dropbox and sighed, at least I can look and eventually I will get there and enjoy the sun, but until then I can dream and imagine the warmth, the gentle lapping of the sea and the fish swimming in the shallow waters around your feet as you paddle.
Happy days
Oh, I keep my fingers crossed covid-19 doesn't scupper my planned holiday at the beginning of April. I am so desperate for some sun and I know my house sitter is looking forward to getting down here from London to have some quiet time, rest and recuperation before she faces the built up aggression so often seen in the suburbs up there.
I'm going back to Lanzarote to enjoy some walking without the waterproofs and to sit where the wind is lessened in that hot, bright sun.
Am I counting the days? Almost.
Next to my work station I have a series of photographs which I often look at. They are bright, blue and inviting. Some are of Tenerife whilst others depict the parts of Teguise I love. Breezy Teguise they call it because the winds rarely drop and wind surfing is a regular pass time off the coasts. But the sands are yellow from the blown in sand from Africa and the waters are calm and inviting.......I'm sighing with great anticipation and smiling with that excited joy the prospect of a new adventure brings.
Tee hee, I've a few lined up too and a cruise in September. Fingers crossed Italy will be open for business by then and I will get to see some more beaches, Sardinia and some of the Greek islands.
What a year to look forward to and still have summer here!
Exciting.
