I had to go, I really couldn't miss it again and London is so vibrant during the festival.
I missed the parade as it was quite early in the morning (before my Senior railcard would allow) but I did go and see the floats and they were as spectacular as I thought they would be. Silk, stretched over wire frames, they were made in the same style as those in Shanghai and their Festival of Light.
One of the dragons used in the parade was mounted, alongside its partner; one red, one yellow.
I'd love to have seen these doing their snake like dance through the streets but You Tube has some good footage of not only this parade but the ones in China.
Many people were out in traditional dress. This gentleman was with his wife. Sadly I wasn't able to get a shot of her but she did look beautiful.
Most of the children were dressed in traditional red. They carried paper dragons, lanterns and all sorts of special pastries signifying the Spring festival.
Yes, those pastries were lovely.
Even the fire brigade got involved. Their engines were gleaming and one sat outside the station for the children to clamber inside and on top.
I loved the dragon. The dirt showed it'd been on for a few shouts.
